Keep your eyes peeled for the Spring/Summer 2007 edition (out in December 2006) of Brides Washington DC Magazine and Brides Maryland Magazine for an article featuring this very picture below of my May bride, Aubrey, and expert wedding makeup advice by yours truly! Amy of Brides.com came across my website and loved this picture of Aubrey (photo by Genevieve Leiper) and contacted me to feature it in an article devoted to wedding makeup! In the half-page article I give tips for choosing the right foundation for your skin type that will have a long-lasting flawless effect for both natural light and indoor lighting along with contouring and blush techniques. In case a bride comes across the story and has questions for me about her wedding day makeup, the article will have all of my contact information and website address. Thanks Aubrey for allowing me to display this great look and to Genevieve for use of her photo! I can't wait to see the article! How exciting!
Upcoming Schedule
With the holidays right around the corner, I will be using discretion with booking new trials (2007 brides), special event, and makeup trainings from now until the end of the year. I am currently booked until the end of the year with weddings and will be scheduling any new makeup trials (trials not already in my schedule), if possible, for 2007 after the New Year. Please feel free to call me at 1-866-400-GLAM with any scheduling questions or to check availability. I'll do my best to accommodate!
Happy Holidays!
My Upcoming The Knot Magazine Print Ad
Speaking of marketing and promoting, I would like to take a moment to share my The Knot magazine print ad that will be out on newsstands in December for the Spring/Summer edition. The photo was taken by Genevieve Leiper Photography and hair was done by Jo Dene Dewey. Many thanks to Genevieve for her innovation and incredible job with the photo shoot and to Jo Dene for her amazing creativity and vision. And I wouldn't want to forget Angela, the beautiful model that helped make this ad what it is! Thank you!!
Keep your eyes out for it!
Seriously…last post for tonight! :-)
I just wanted to share a promotional card I had printed for a local photographer. You may notice the model in the picture. It's Irene my bride from this past Saturday with a more natural look (she decided last minute to go a little more glam!). The hair was done by www.JoDeneDewey.com, makeup by me, and photography by a very talented couple, Regeti's Photography. There are so many talented photographers in this area all with individual styles. I absolutely love meeting new photographers and enjoying their particular eyes and tastes – each different and unique. Below are the promotional cards I had printed for them displaying their work along with my makeup and Jo Dene's hair. The cards turned out beautiful with a nice gloss coat and printed on thick card stock. I'm very pleased with the results!
What a weekend….
With gorgeous weather on Saturday, I had two very lucky brides who were very thankful for the unseasonal weather that day. This week I'm gearing up for two more bridal trials and an engagement portrait. I will also be working on Aduri Friday and Saturday morning along with a wedding booking in Winchester on Saturday. Sunday, I'm looking forward to shooting with a local fashion photographer. I can't wait to see the product from that shoot!
Below are pics from my weddings this past weekend.

Hairstylist Rave – You know I have to give props to my girl!
As some of you may know I work often with a gal by the name of Jo Dene Dewey www.JoDeneDewey.com. I cannot stress how much of a difference it makes with brides and their bridal parties when they have professional on-site hair and makeup people come to them the day of their wedding. Some brides go the not-so-easy-route of making salon appointments, on a Saturday I might add, and then jetting over to some random makeup counter and trusting whoever is on staff to deliver their wedding day look (while that staff member is more focused on selling products and making sales – not making sure you look beautiful). With Jo Dene and I, not only have we been in the field for 10+ years and worked with countless brides but, we have a genius formula to get the bridal party done in a timely fashion while the bride and her friends sit back and relax. No stress whatsoever is placed on the bride and her bridal party because we come to them. All they have to do is sit in the chair! Below is a picture taken by Genevieve Leiper (www.GenevieveLeiper.com) of Jo Dene and I hard at work at a wedding we both did in September. We're in the bride's bathroom (fairly large bathroom at that)!
Makeup Trials this Week
This has been one busy year but I'm not complaining! Being busy is pretty much the reason why I haven't been keeping up with my blog! I've been trying to keep up with my brides! Below are pictures from trials I've done just this week. I have two more trials this week to go and two full bridal party weddings on Saturday in Alexandria and a makeup trial for an upcoming wedding in December. I've been one busy gal between makeup trainings, trials, weddings, and working on Aduri (www.AduritheMovie.com). This past year Genevieve Leiper of www.GenevieveLeiper.com included me in her engagement portrait package. This makeup service to brides is offered through one of her bridal packages and includes a full face makeup application by me for their engagement portraits with hubby-to-be. Having a professional makeup artist for your engagement or pre-bridal pictures really does make a difference in the result of the actual picture. Genevieve has also been promoting me to her brides along with other portrait work she is involved in such as high school senior portraits and even pregnancy portraits. Working with a professional photographer has also helped me in further development of my skill as a makeup artist. It has just really given me some wonderful experience.
I will be taking a breather, starting Thanksgiving week, to give myself a little bit of a break and get ready to close out this year. I would just like to take a moment to extend a personal thank you to all of my brides, special event makeup clients, and makeup training clients who have made this year a wonderful year for me to be in business. Without your loyalty and feedback, I would never be able to do what I do. Thank you ladies!
