September is brimming with beauty! From fall flowers to fashion, it’s an exciting time of year. We’ve been focused this week on the season’s latest makeup, nail colors, and hair care, among a few other obsessions. Take our beauty tour to see our latest loves.

Sabrina demonstrated why the perfectly named Stellar Pink in Rouge Volupté Perle has become an overnight sensation. Visit The Beauty Look Book to find out why you need the star of YSL’s show.

Charlestongirl got her hands on four of the new Uptown Mauve Rouge d’Armani lipsticks from Giorgio Armani Beauty. Check out Best Things in Beauty to see why there should be a creamy, long-lasting lovely in your makeup bag.

Gaia discovered the wonders of Laura Mercier’s fab Eye Liner in Black Ebony and provided some great application assistance at The Non-Blonde.

Anne is an admitted nail polish “fiend.” She told us why Dazzle Dry is the Energizer Bunny of nail polishes at BeautyXposé.

Kelly modeled the Fall/Winter Collection of the Fusion of Color Natural Collection at Gouldylox Reviews. She showed us how to look like ourselves, only better.

Kari always has a Pantene product in her shower. She recently tried Professional Level Damage Repair Ampoule Treatment for Medium Thick Hair, and even though her hair isn’t particularly thick, she liked it! Find out why at Fab over Forty.

Ever wonder how those airbrush foundation products really work? Self-proclaimed klutz Lisa told us how she fell in love with the Luminess Air Brush Pro System at The Beauty Info Zone Blog. We’ll be watching to see how long it takes her to repossess it from Marcia.

Did you watch Episode 1 of Flawless Faces for All Races last week? Vicki posted Episode 2 this week at Makeup Artist Backstage. All of us can learn tips and techniques by watching pro artist Vicki make women gorgeous!

Burberry Beauty’s Rosewood Eyeshadow has become a blogger darling. Find out why from Elvira at Pink Sith.

Beauty Around The Web: September 19, 2010

iStock_000013881526XSmallThese crisp mornings and warm days, so typical of September, put us in the mood for change. What better way to freshen your routine than to treat yourself to some new beauty products? As always, we have a few suggestions for you.

Most of us credit Gaia for starting the Le Metiér de Beauté addiction that has inflicted all of us, but we digress. This week, she showed us how to make our makeup do double duty with Le Metiér de Beauté’s Magic Lustre Cream. Visit The Non-Blonde to find out how to transform your powder-based products into creamy glosses for eyes, cheeks, and lips!

Then head over to Beauty Info Zone Blog to find out why Marcia is adorning her nails with the four stunning nail polishes from Le Metiér de Beauté’s Le Cirque Collection.

One more treat for Le Metiér junkies – you need to read Amy’s feature on the Persephone Eye Kit at Café Makeup. You may not be able to find it, but you should see how pretty it is. Every Kaleidoscope is a wonder.

Sabrina, the gal with the perfect lips for modeling lipsticks, gave us a look at the coveted Chanel SoHo Story lip colors at The Beauty Look Book. All three formulas and shades are lust-worthy and worth the search.

Speaking of lip colors, did you know that Lancome created four new, limited-edition lipsticks in honor of the company’s 75th Anniversary? Kari showed us the sleek silver metal case, styled after the Eiffel Tower at Fab over Forty. By the way, if you haven’t read Jill Jonnes’s Eiffel’s Tower, it’s a great read!

Kelly is one brave blogger. At Gouldylox Reviews, she showed us in living color why Laura Geller’s Banish-n-Brighten Concealing Luminizer has earned a permanent place on her vanity.

Our pro makeup artist Vicki rolled out the premiere edition of Flawless Faces for All Races at Makeup Artist Backstage. Learn her simple techniques for creating a flawless look by watching her 10-minute video.

There’s breaking news at Product Girl! Laurie showed us the newest shade of Urban Decay’s iconic Eyeshadow Primer Potion – Greed. We may get greedy beating a path to Sephora to get one. You can even purchase a Sephora-exclusive, limited-edition kit with all four shades of Primer Potion.

Charlestongirl introduced us to Dior’s very limited-edition Tailleur Bar Haute Couture Look set at Best Things in Beauty. Lavender and grey eye shadows with popping pink lips pay homage to Dior’s legendary bar suit. Charlestongirl wants you to know that Neiman Marcus at Mazza Gallerie has offered her readers (and you insiders) an incredible deal. Just go to this link to see how you could win a $500 shopping spree.

Ending our week’s roundup on an amusing note, Anne showed us that some women will do anything to spruce up their looks before wedding day! Check out BeautyXposé to get the scoop on the latest E! network show.

Have a great weekend and remember…new beauty products are a great pick-me-up!

Backstage: Carmen Marc Valvo S/S 2011

CMV_4Carmen Marc Valvo designs for the red carpet evokes a 1960′s glamor in his new spring collection.CMV_6 Valvo joined famed celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson as well as Romero Jennings for MAC to design the beauty looks for the show. I chatted with them backstage for a sneak peak at award season, spring trends and more.

HAIR: Ted Gibson reinvents the chignon once again – his now signature textured chignons are his style staple and rule the runways. The chignon can be traced to Ancient Greece – but for this “Camelot-inspired’ collection, according to the designer, this chignon is perhaps more rooted in the association with French elegance. And this collection was absolutely elegant! I wanted to scream “Bravo” as each model walked down the runway.CMV_9

CMV_1CMV_8There was a little whimsy in this texturized reinterpretation of the chignon and a bit of the ends were left unsecured – giving it a more modern feel.

Only two products were used to create the look backstage: Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray and Ted Gibson Just Build It Blow Drying Agent. No need for Aqua Net to keep these buns in place!

MAKEUP: Romero Jennings for MAC shared with me what’s hot right now:
IN: Bold Eyes
OUT: Strong Lips

CMV_2Play up eyes with a palette inspired from the sea in teals and blues and get ready to bring back shimmer! His go-to item this season: new MAC Mega Metal Shadow in Dalliance. He used this generously all over the eyes and in the inner corners. He then opted for MACs Cream Shadow Quad in Lite Brite/Derailed ; Plum-ing / Washed Out.

Lips are nude in MAC Lip Colour in Super and cheeks are “just pinched” – a look we saw at many of the shows this season.

NAILS: MAC custom-blended a polish just for the show – it was a nude color that will not be offered at retail – don’t you hate that??CMV_5

So get ready to glam up those eyes and pull back your hair this spring with looks straight from the runway.

Backstage at Lela Rose for the Spring/Summer 2011 collections was a sea of glamor. Celebrity hairstylist, and my good friend, Ted Gibson, created a messy side braid with volume and texture. “The inspiration is Peru.”, explained Gibson, who styled Christina Ricci’s hair the evening before among other top celebrities for Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. Gibson set the style with his innovative multi-purpose product, Build It Blow Drying Spray. Gibson’s team also styled Real Housewives of DC star and Labels For Love founder, Mary Amons, backstage at the Lela Rose show.

Key Makeup Artist for Stila Cosmetics, Sarah Lucero, created a current Hollywood glamor look with velvet matte skin, neutral shading around eyes and cheeks for structure, and finished it off with a vibrant coral-red lip that popped off the runway.

The nails were perfected by Deborah Lippmann and her opaque-matte, pink-coral shade Pretty Young Thing polish.

Beauty Around The Web: September 4, 2010

make upIt’s time to wear all of our fall makeup! OK, most of us cheated. The makeup introductions for fall are exquisite. How could a self-respecting beauty blogger wait for an arbitrary date like Labor Day? There used to be a rule that we couldn’t wear white after Labor Day! Write in if you still follow it.

Here’s a spin around our favorite beauty blogs to introduce fall – in all of its splendor – and remind us that the best summer favorites are seasonless.

Kari kicked off our fall theme with Five Products for Transitioning to Fall. Head over to Fab over Forty to find her recommendations. How many do you have in your beauty wardrobe?

Gaia took a short break from gorgeous new fall colors (and her incomparable fragrance reviews) to write about a concealer she loves. Gaia knows that we need to prepare our complexions for our beautiful new makeup. She shared her application tips at The Non-Blonde. While you’re there, read about “naked lashes.” Does this fall-winter trend have legs…or eyes?

Anne is celebrating fall beauty with Shiseido! Check out BeautyXposé for a fab feature on Shiseido’s stunning fall collection from Dick Page. Who could resist those eye shadows?

Dolce & Gabbana’s makeup is hard to find. See what Sabrina selected (with help from Nikki at Saks Houston) from the fall collection at The Beauty Look Book. Don’t you love it when you find a great phone friend to help you select the perfect shades? You have to stop by to see Sabrina’s selections.

Charlestongirl wrote a love letter to Edward Bess at Best Things in Beauty. Edward creates makeup with a sense of place, and his irresistible fall colors for cheeks are inspired – and inspiring.

Kelly has been showing us the best of summer at Gouldylox Reviews. Both of her favorite discoveries for cheeks will take you right into fall! See if you can read about H2 Glow Natural Highlighter Cream without placing an order.

M∙A∙C’s new Fabulous Felines Collection for fall has been a blogger darling for weeks, particularly among cat lovers. Get the full scoop on the Superslick Liquid Eye Liners from Marcia at Beauty Info Zone Blog.

Super-shopper Laurie at Product Girl found a darling Clinique gift with purchase at Bloomingdale’s. Clinique has some great looks for fall, including new shades of Vitamin C Lip Smoothies. Why not get a gift when you pick up your favorites? The GWP includes an Allure favorite paring for fall – pink and chocolate.

How are we going to organize all our new purchases? Our pro, Vicki, let us in on her new “secret” at Makeup Artist Backstage.

It’s summer; it’s fall. Enjoy both seasons while you can!

Happy Labor Day weekend! We hope you have a fabulous holiday.
